ESPECIES ENDÉMICAS Y AMENAZADAS REGISTRADAS EN LA CUENCA DEL RIO COELLO (TOLIMA) DURANTE ESTUDIOS RÁPIDOS EN 2003
RESUMEN
Registramos siete especies endémicas y/o amenazadas (Leptotila conoveri, Leptosittaca branickii, Anthocephala floriceps, Chloropipo flavicapilla, Myiarchus apicalis, Euphonia concinna, Habia cristata y Atlapetes flaviceps) en la cuenca del río Coello (Tolima) en el año 2003 desde los 430 m hasta los 2440 m de altura. Se identificaron las características de la zona en la cual se registraron. Varios registros representan ampliaciones de distribución en la región. En particular, la presencia de cinco especies endémicas en la subcuenca del río Combeima, específicamente en la Quebrada Cay desde los 1700 m hasta los 2400 m de altura, muestra la importancia de esta zona para la conservación de aves con algún grado de amenaza.

Endemic and threatened species recorded in the Río Coello watershed (Tolima) during rapid assessments in 2003
ABSTRACT
We recorded seven endemic and/or threatened species (Anthocephala floriceps, Leptotila conoveri, Chloropipo flavicapilla, Myiarchus apicalis, Euphonia concinna, Habia cristata and Leptosittaca branickii, Atlapetes flaviceps) in the watershed of the Coello River (Tolima) in 2003 between elevations of 430 m and 2440 m. We identified the habitat characteristics of the areas where we recorded them. Several of these records represent range extensions in this region. The presence of five endemic species in the Combeima river drainage, especially in the Cay Creek area between 1700 and 2400 m, demonstrates the importance of this sector for the conservation of endemic and threatened birds.
